Racing in the rain then a wedding after? PT.2

So, to finish off the blog post for the race weekend! Lets see! This wedding was totally unplanned for me and I had NO idea who any of these people were. WHAT I did know was what I do best, improvise and get the best photos.. Even though I was not hired I still tired to work with the quickly falling light and that posed a challenge. So here are some of those photos in no particular order!

Racing in the rain then a wedding after? PT.1

Hello Followers!

I swear i'll blog more! So i'm going to publish two right here right now! How's that sound? Good!

Last weekend Oct 31st 2015, I had my first CMRA start!! It was not the best start to a race however before the first turn! I had already gotten many people though that turn!! How exciting was that you ask? VERY Because it was all done in the rain!!!
I continued to move up to the front of the pack in the first two laps of the two hour race.
Right before the second lap was ending I had a problem, I couldn't see! The visor to my helmet was fogging up due to the inner liner that was made to prevent such things. Earlier on in the year I had ripped the fog proof liner and never replaced it.

I kept pushing till I realized I could not see the track conditions worsening.. I made the decision to slow down dramatically after a really close call to ending the race with a crash. Over all, our team made it in 5th place in class which isn't to bad considering! We also had a scary amount of tornado warnings and lightning storms!
Here are photos and videos of that weekend?!
 Race start!
First turn where I realized I can't see the track.
Where I realized it wasn't worth it.
Drive to the track.

First sign of rain on the way!

 Friday Practice... In the rain!
Gross Mexican beer after not crashing out of practice and getting second fastest!
We got our pit up and ready for the race!
Then we (Team mate Stacey) get stuck inside during a freak storm!
And what we came to find after the rain storm!! :(
 To many storm warnings!

CMRA racing Pt.1

This weekend on Saturday I'll be in my first 6 hr. endurance race on my 250 Ninja sport bike..
A little background of the bike. I bought the bike stock and tore it all apart and started rebuilding it into a race bike.. I sent in the suspension to be built  to Keith Hertell to built into full race suspension. Last weekend I was able to test the bike out for a few hours.
Bike ran great, handled great and I learned I have much to learn to get fast at riding.

Sadly, no photos in this post till maybe Sunday or Monday!
Lets hope for a great weekend and some fun video to come!

More floods and Tim Laps storm

To follow up on the last post, this will also be related with all the rain Texas has had.. We this week are suppose to have more and I wont mind it unless it's not raining over the weekend or Monday. I want to race monday.. Anywho, during the rains we had I decided just incase something cool would happen i'd bring my camera everywhere and it turned out to be worth it. Now i'm considering doing that more often. Never the less, I was coming back from dinner and saw this tiny creek or now flowing river was now behind Lauren's house so we went exploring.  As you can see below this was massive.

Wen't high enough to flood this park, this pool now doesn't look so nice to swim in.

So, a few days after this came some more rain and I decided to get the gopro out and see what I can get as this storm developed. Though I didn't get the angle I wanted I did get some decent time laps video.
Below is that video, (following the video to Youtube and watching in full resolution will help show all the details in the clouds.. It's worth it I think. Enjoy!

South Texas Flooding 5/24/2015

By this time i'm sure the word has gotten around all over that south Texas has been getting hit by some heavy rains.
Well, this morning I decided to go out and find some water damage to take photos of or just flooded areas. I am one to enjoy photographing destruction and that is exactly what I found.

This first one to me looks like a war zone. The waters raised and dropped so quickly, over night a entire bridge was swept away and with homes and trees.

This was not a small bridge that fell, and normally when going over this river it's close to empty.

More flood stuff!

Artistic Nude

This was from a very long time ago, when I was still shooting Nikon cameras. I was using a Nikon D90 with a 2.8 Tokina lens. This lens to this day is still one of my favorites from when I was with Nikon. I am still thinking about buying one for my Canon 5D Mark II for the clarity! This was my first attempt at this kind of photography, however I really wanted something that would be actually "artistic" VS porn, I think I did that.

Shooting Bands Part 2!!

Greetings and salutations, I've returned again with another band shoot!

This shoot was similar to the Sour Bridges gig where I didn't know where I was shooting and didn't know what they had in mind. The not knowing of the location was my fault as I forgot to go take a look at the bar before hand. Things worked out great in the end!

I arrive early the morning of to get a look at the bar, band was already unpacking so I introduce myself. We talk about what ideas they have, I make my rounds around to see what I can see and we are on our way!

Next was this really cool bar table/booth setting with black leather and wood table tops. This was one of the scenes I was most excited for. I just felt we could make it something fantastic, I feel that happened with this scene. As usual they all did a great job in making my job easy by having a good time.

From here we go outside! They made some shipping containers into a covered chilling area with pallets as benches and tables! Real creative and good for some photos.

And around the right side of the container healed another great spot with some benches and a tree...
So it got pretty silly here.

We venture off out side of the bar now to find a alley way full of green!

Next was this old barber shop, we tried to get inside and found that there was a man living inside of the place. I thought that was kinda strange, even more so because it looked so run down. However, the inside of the house looked like it would have been a great shot! Heres outside!

Shooting Bands

Welcome humans!! This will be a long post to make up for what i've been holding back.
In early March I had the pleasure to photograph Sour Bridges which was a last minute deal. With I had no location or direction to the shoot in mind. The band was the only ones who had an idea of what they wanted and I hoped that I was going to be able to capture what they had in mind. I was told a week before the shoot or so that the shoot would be at one of the band members house.

When I arrive I see for the first time what I am going to work with and I can't lie, I was unsure how I was going to make it work for them. Luckily, after explaining what was lurking in these brilliant peoples minds I shared the same vision and was ready! First was the porch during sunset. Now I can not wait for the CD release to hear the new music and see how my work played out with the album! Take a listen here!
Album comes out on May 12!

Next was the fence directly behind me in the photo above! Different mood though turned out great!

After this scene, back to the porch for some good ole dawn photos with a bit of a different feel again.
Then we all went inside for the last location, after bouncing a strobe off the wall to get my lighting I was set!

This really is a good band, to anyone who likes blue grass music, don't sit around listening to the same old songs jam Sour Bridges!
